Description:

Many of our patients suffer from Low Back Pain.  As health care and wellness professionals we have many tools to address this diagnosis from manual therapy, strengthening exercises, stretching techniques, kinesiotherapy and more.  However, despite our application of these techniques,  many of our patients and clients continue to suffer from chronic back issues.   

Yoga and Science in Back Pain Care will review common causes of low back pain which can be addressed through yoga techniques.  You will learn how to integrate the practices of breath, awareness and alignment to improve your client’s symptoms and treat the cause at the root.  Even if you are not a student of yoga, you will learn how to incorporate these techniques in a user friendly way into your treatment plan.

This course is intended to instruct the professional for more education in the use of yoga practices to help their patients with low back pain.

Professional Objectives:

  1. Identify two common myths regarding treatment of back pain and current integrative approaches for low back pain. 
  2. Select the latest theories on chronic pain and how the Neuro-emotional Web affects the treatment plan
  3. Select 4 kinesiological principles that may contribute to low back pain. 
  4. Identify the 4 assessments to ascertain which (if any) kinesiological causes may be contributing to low back pain 
  5. Recognize which yoga asanas will address the 4 kinesiological contributors to low back pain.
  6. Recognize a summary of why yoga practices may be beneficial for people with low back pain 
  7. Identify the yoga sequence of poses and practices that address most common causes of low back pain.
