Description:

Most conditions that lead to musculoskeletal pain tend to be overuse syndromes.  These overuse syndromes can be frustrating to both the patient and clinician.  Many of these overuse syndromes develop because of poor and compensatory movement patterns.

This course instructs 5 movement screens assessing the neuromyofascial network to identify compensatory patterns and areas of altered joint mechanics.  Once the area of dysfunction has been identified, joint specific evaluation techniques are introduced to determine tissue specific impairments designed to guide future treatment.

This seminar-on-demand is 4 contact hours in length (check your state’s approval status in the state specific course catalog for your profession).

FL MT's: This course is approved for 4 hours in the relevant to and focus on massage therapy techniques (includes demonstration by the instructor) subject area.

Goals & Objectives:

Course Goals:

This course is intended to instruct the professional on assessing the neuromyofascial network to identify compensatory patterns and areas of altered joint mechanics.

Professional Objectives:

  1. Identify  changing role of fascia
  2. Identify causes of structural/mechanical dysfunction
  3. Identify neurological compensations
  4. Identify posture as an active movement
  5. Recognize common muscles that lead to postural deviations
  6. Identify  the incorporation of visual inspection findings as part of posture assessment
  7. Differentiate the use of active and passive movements
  8. Identify the anatomy and function of the anterior and posterior neuromyofascia
  9. Identify areas of dysfunction during hip hinge assessment
  10. Recognize application of joint examination and findings
  11. Recognize components and function of deep anterior and lateral lines
  12. Identify areas of dysfunction during high step assessment
  13. Recognize application of joint examination and findings
  14. Identify areas of dysfunction during overhead reach assessment
  15. Recognize application of joint examination and findings
  16. Recognize components and function of anterior/ posterior functional lines
  17. Identify areas of dysfunction during axial rotation assessment
  18. Recognize application of joint examination and findings

Criteria for Completion:

A score of 70% or more is considered passing.  Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.
