Description:

The purpose of this basic, introductory course is to provide clinicians with tools to support parents managing challenging/defiant behaviors in their children. A child who exhibits disruptive behaviors, even a typically developing child, can cause caregiver stress, low levels of perceived parent competence and satisfaction. This can affect the quality of family life, leading to anxiety, depression, and developmental delays.

An explicit focus on behavior and behavior management is essential for anyone working with children. This course will provide practical tools and strategies that clinicians can employ to guide parents and other caregivers to help children overcome their behavioral difficulties. These tools, along with practice and support, can assist them in managing a child’s behavioral challenges so they can create nurturing relationships and a peaceful home environment.
