Addressing the comprehensive care and person-centered needs of people with dementia can be difficult and full of challenges. Professional Objectives:

  1. Recognize the regulatory requirements and related surveyor questions regarding services for SNF residents living with dementia.
  2. Select components of the required interdisciplinary comprehensive assessment for people with dementia.
  3. Identify strategies to assure a person-centered environment and care, thereby promoting the highest quality of life for individuals living with dementia.
  4. Select the recommended protocols and optional tools for staff competencies, when working with residents who have dementia.
  5. Recognize strategies to implement & document individualized nonpharmacological interventions for residents with dementia.
  6. Identify protocols and documentation to assure compliance with medication practices for people with dementia.
