Hour 1
- Discussion of anatomical position and body region as it relates to the evaluation and treatment of a patient.
- Learn basic anatomical terminology
- Functions of the skin
- Structure of dermise and epidermis
- Wound healing description
- Connective tissue review
Hour 2
- Understand functions of bone as well as classifications
- General structure and gross anatomy of long bones
- Discussion of histology of cells in bone
- Blood and nerve supply of bones
- Classification of fractures
- Function of skeletal system and differentiation of axial and appendicular systems
Hour 3
- Discuss the properties of muscle, skeletal tissue, microscopic anatomy, contraction of muscle fibers, mechanism of sliding, and types of muscular fibers.
- Review levers
- Go over cardiac muscle tissue, and smooth muscle.
- Thorough overview of the muscles of the body
- Thorough overview of surface anatomy
Hour 4
- Review the PNS and CNS
- Go over nervous tissue, myelination of the axons, axon regeneration, synapsis, nerves
Hour 5
- Thorough overview of the brain structures and functions and cranial nerves
- Anatomy of the spinal cord including white and gray matter and spinal nerves reflexes and higher-order processing
Hour 6
- Overview of components of blood and functions, formed elements of the blood, blood types
- Anatomy of the heart, including innervation of the heart
- Blood pressure and systemic circulation
- Discuss the functions of the lymphatic system
- Go over the lymphatic cells, lymph and lymph vessels, and aging of the lymphatic system.
