With the February 28th, 2013 renewal deadline looming for all Florida Occupational therapist and assistants, we are frequently asked questions about the hows and whens of reporting your continuing education credits. We've put together a little FAQ to answer some of the most common questions for Florida Occupational Therapy CEs.
How are my continuing education credits reported to the Florida Board of Occupational Therapy?
The Florida Board of Occupational Therapy (FBOT) is a subsection of the Florida Department of Health (FDOH). The FDOH uses CE Broker as their official continuing education reporting system. Once a course is completed, it is submitted to CE Broker who records and tracks individual credits to ensure compliance with the state's requirements.
Who reports my CE credits?
Individuals can create an account at CE Broker to self-report, but some CE providers (like us!) will do this on behalf of the student.
How long does it take for my credits to appear in my CE Broker account?
There are various factors at play when processing reports and transferring information, therefore the FDOH allows for a 90-day window for reporting.
90 days?? But my renewal is due in less than a week and I just finished my course, should I worry?
Absolutely not! While your mom would scold you for procrastinating, the FDOH is more reasonable and is only concerned with the date of completion for your course, not the date of reporting (as long as it's within the 90-day limit). That's why they've got that 90-day window mentioned above.
But I went to the CE Broker website to renew and saw the big sign that said: "You Are Not In Compliance"...Is it time to panic now??
Nope. If you've completed all your CE's you're fine! You can still continue your renewal process. Your HomeCEUConnection.com course completion certificates are available in your course manager to download and email in the rare case that you are asked to produce them to verify the date of completion.
Bottom line?
HomeCEU not only reduces your CE stress by allowing you to complete your entire continuing education requirements easily, affordably and conveniently, and we also handle the reporting process for you, too.
