This course is intended to instruct the professional on understanding typical characteristics of dysphagia in each stage of cognitive decline in order to plan effective therapy.

Professional Objectives:

  1. Identify distinguishing characteristics between presbyphagia and dysphagia.
  2. Recognize polypharmaceutical side effects on dysphagia for older patients with cognitive decline.
  3. Identify the evidence regarding feeding tubes for patients with end-stage dementia.
