  • Accessing Siri to support access and literacy
  • Keyboard access and customization options for access
  • Reset and restrictions options for safety and control, Timers, clocks and customization for independence
  • Screen Time and access limits

Hour 3

  • Description and images of the specific accessibility features built into iOS systems and iPad.
  • Vision specific features
  • Switch control features
  • Assistive Touch
  • Hearing
  • Guided Access
  • A Review of the iOS updates/changes featured in the iOS 13 update.

Description:

iOS devices like iPhones and iPads are used by individuals and therapists to complete daily activities, navigate the world around us and communicate.  The power of these handheld devices is typically underutilized primarily due to lack of knowledge and understanding of what functions are available and how they can be used.  This course will address the iOS system and the range of the standard supports and built in accessibility features that support all persons AT/AAC needs.  Professionals will be provided comprehensive instruction to enable successful utilization of iPads and iPhones when working with persons who have a range of disabilities.

This course is intended to instruct the professional to comprehensively understand how to utilize features of iPads successfully when working with persons who have a range of disabilities. 

Professional Objectives:

  1. Recognize the process to access on screen controls and to add buttons to controls
  2. Identify the airdrop feature
  3. Identify 2 forms of multi-tasking and the features of each.
  4. Identify at least 3 standard iOS features that support Accessibility and literacy.
  5. List 3 ways restrictions and timers support individuals with disability.
  6. Identify 3 vision accessibility features that can support multiple disabilities.
  7. Identify Interaction supports found in accessibility features
  8. Identify 2 features of guided access that support Accessibility.
  9. Identify 3 changes in iOS 13 that increase accessibility for all users.
