It gives a general outline to the contraindications, precautions, and considerations connecting medications and massage therapy. Learning Outcomes:

Upon completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Identify the interaction between massage therapy and common medications.
  • Review categories and administration of medications.
  • Define contraindications and modifications of medications. 
  • Review effects of massage strokes. 
  • Define basics of pharmacology and pharmacokinetics.
  • Identify common herbal supplements and vitamins.
  • Review drug categorization and preparation.
  • Identify the social dynamics and availability of massage versus medication.
