This course is intended for allied health professionals who care for aging adults. The course reviews the components of communication, including voice, hearing, speech, language, and cognition, and the effect that aging has on each area. Learners will also gain strategies for assessment and treatment and counseling families.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Discuss normal changes in each component of speech related to aging. 
  • Describe at least three factors of aging on language. 
  • Explain at least three evidence-based treatment approaches to address age-related language deficits and improve participation in daily and occupational tasks
