  • Importance of correct form with corrective exercises.
  • Variety of exercises in corrective exercise program.
  • Identify positions for corrective exercises.
  • Identify Trendelenburg gait patterns.
  • Identify functions of gluteus maximus.
  • Identify functional deficits from weak gluteus maximus.
  • Identify postural deficits from tight muscles.
  • Identify how a variety of corrective exercise targets muscles differently.

Description:

This course provides an in-depth review of the gluteal muscles, actions, and issues that arise when they are dormant. Discussion includes the causes of Dormant Butt Syndrome (DBS), how DBS negatively affects the spine and hips, and how to reverse DBS. Exercises from frail aging adults to intermediate adults are reviewed as well as advancing exercises for the average individual.  

This course is intended to instruct and educate the healthcare professional on how the gluteals become dormant as well as appropriate exercise progression to reverse dormant gluteals. Topics range from how to engage the glutes to functional strength for activities such as standing from a seated position, stairs, and floor transfers utilizing unilateral glute training in lunges.

  1. Identify causes of DBS.
  2. Identify how dysfunction of gluteals negatively affects the spine as well as knees.
  3. Identify most common pain patterns and corrective exercises from frail aging adults to intermediate level adults.
  4. Identify appropriate exercises based on current functional level.
