Child abuse and neglect remains a significant problem for us all in the U.S. as well as in Pennsylvania. Approximately 3.5 million children in the U.S. were the subjects of at least one child abuse or neglect report (United States Department of Health and Human Services [HHS], 2019). In Pennsylvania alone, there were 46,208 reports of suspected child and student abuse in 2017 (HHS, 2019). Learning Outcomes: 

After completing this course, the learner will be able to:

  • Evaluate possible clinical, behavioral, and physical indicators of suspected child abuse and neglect to determine whether there is reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or neglect.    
  • Explain criteria of mandated reporters in accordance with Pennsylvania law.    
  • Apply the current requirements and protocol for reporting child abuse or neglect in Pennsylvania. 
  • Describe the scope of human trafficking and identify risk factors for potential human trafficking victims.

Criteria for Completion: A score of 75% or more is considered passing. Scores of less than 75% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.
