This course outlines the most current diagnostic criteria, evaluation, and treatment approaches for autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Rehab professionals will gain an understanding of assessment tools, intervention techniques, and strategies to provide family centered care. Frameworks and models of care will provide a foundation of direct treatment interventions for the child and coaching families.   • Analyze intervention strategies to use with children who have ASD across various settings.
  • Differentiate specific evidence-based resources to create a treatment plan.
  • Analyze how children with ASD may have disrupted activities of daily living (ADL) and instrumental activities of daily living (IADL).
  • Arrange an understanding of how to partner and work closely with families of children with ASD.
  • Relate how various members of the interdisciplinary team play a role in a child’s success.
  • Differentiate between behavioral challenges and sensory differences.
  • Outline how essential it is to learn about each child’s unique sensory profile.
