This course is intended to instruct the professional to address other factors in wound care besides wound dressings. 

Professional Objectives:

  1. Recognize physiology and biochemistry of wound healing in various phases.
  2. Identify the influence of hormones in wound healing.
  3. Identify the influence of hormones in wound healing.
  4. Recognize how malnutrition can negatively affect wound healing.
  5. Recognize common infection sources in chronic wounds.
  6. Recognize common infection sources in chronic wounds.
  7. Identify how bioactive and interactive dressings can be used to treat wounds.
  8. Recognize edema, lymphedema and use of compression when appropriate.
