The purpose of this course is to provide occupational therapists, physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, and any rehabilitation practitioners and students working in pediatric settings with current, research-based tools and task analysis training to tailor client-centered interventions for children across a multitude of healthcare, academic, and community settings.

Learning Outcomes

Upon completing this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Define scopes of practice for pediatric OTs, PTs, and SLPs. 
  • Review common theoretical frameworks and developmental milestones referenced in pediatric settings. 
  • Outline common functional deficits addressed in pediatric assessment and intervention. 
  • Define and implement task analysis to develop occupation-based intervention tools that directly enhance children's participation in daily activities including self-feeding, play, academic tasks, and social engagement.  
  • Recall simulated intervention care plans using case studies. 
  • Recognize current, evidence-based research pertaining to latest pediatric tools for rehabilitation settings. 
  • Review sufficient documentation format to justify and validate therapeutic interventions.
