The acute phase of stroke is very short compared to the time spent in a LTAC or home health setting. There are many things that these providers must be aware of in caring for the stroke survivor as well as the family.  

This course will educate the caregiver on the complications that can come with stroke and what can be done to help the stroke survivor as well as the family.  Knowing what to expect is the best way to prevent complications.

This course is intended to instruct the professional on the complications that can come with stroke and what can be done to help the stroke survivor as well as the family.  

Professional Objectives:Identify the 4 types of stroke.

  1. Identify 3 risk factors for stroke.
  2. Identify 3 symptoms of stroke.
  3. Identify one thing you can do to help the stroke survivor.
  4. Identify symptoms associated with various stroke locations.
  5. Identify one difference between poststroke depression and pseudobulbar affect.
  6. Identify 3 complications seen in stroke patients.
