  • Trends seen in women with stroke.

  • What can be expected based on where the stroke occurs.  This can also help explain why certain symptoms are experienced by the patient.
  • Risk factors of stroke as well as the risk factors specific to women.
  • Recovery in women and other interesting findings in regard to statistics with women and stroke.

This course is intended to instruct the professional on stroke in women and potentially decrease the severity should stroke occur.

Professional Objectives:

  1. Identify how many strokes occur per year.
  2. Identify where stroke ranks nationally and among women in regard to cause of death.
  3. Identify the 4 types of stroke.
  4. Identify 3 unique stroke symptoms seen in women.
  5. Identify one deficit seen with each area of the brain discussed.
  6. Identify 4 stroke risk factors specific to women.
  7. Identify 2 things that make recovery different in women.

Criteria for Completion:

A score of 70% or more is considered passing.  Scores of less than 70% indicate a failure to understand the material and the test will need to be taken again until a passing score has been achieved.
