The purpose of this course is to present the power wheelchair assessment process for the pediatric population, including determining optimal equipment parameters. Part of the assessment process is determining the optimal driving method. A wide variety of power wheelchair driving methods will be covered in a hierarchy of use, with clinical indicators for each. Finally, the course will illustrate this information in a case study.

The purpose of this course is to present the power wheelchair assessment process for the pediatric population, including determining optimal equipment parameters.   • The participant will be able to differentiate between power wheelchair drive wheel configurations.​
  • The participant will be able to analyze how client medical issues may impact power wheelchair use.​
  • The participant will be able to compare proportional driving methods and clinical indicators for each.​
  • The participant will be able to select a nonproportional driving method based on clinical indicators.
