Compassion fatigue is the distress resulting from the continual demands of caring for others and witnessing pain and trauma. Healthcare providers often experience the effects of the constant strain of meeting the vast needs of patients and their families, resulting in compassion fatigue. This seminar will describe the stages, causes, symptoms, and consequences of compassion fatigue.
