Upcoming Webinar: Achieving Optimum Therapeutic Exercise Outcomes

Achieving Optimum Therapeutic Exercise Outcomes is a four-contact-hour, live, interactive, online, continuing education seminar for Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Assistants, and is presented in cooperation with Chad Hensel, PT, DPT, MHS, CSCS. This continuing education course is intended to instruct the professional through a self-paced study on stretching, strength training and other factors used to optimize therapeutic exercise.

At the end of this course the professional will be able to:

  1. Identify and correlate functional anatomy with common exercises for strength/motor control of the upper and lower body.
  2. Identify origin, insertion, innervations, and action of muscles reviewed.
  3. Define Trendelenberg gait.
  4. Identify the genetic factors that affect gaining strength and muscle mass.
  5. Define strength training and differentiate between the specific strength training principles including: giant sets, super-sets, strength-duration curve, periodization, and negative training.
  6. Identify how strength training principles can serve to optimize results.
  7. Recognize the consequences of improper technique.
  8. Recognize considerations for the arthritic, diabetic, adolescent and older adult populations exercise.
  9. Identify knee anatomy and physiology in context with the incidence of injury.
  10. Identify the strength goal percentage for quadricep to hamstring ratio.
  11. Recognize optimal proprioception and strength exercises to prevent knee injuries.
  12. Identify the physiology of stretching as it pertains to rehab applications.
  13. Differentiate between static and dynamic stretching

About The Author: Chad Hensel

Chad Hensel, PT, DPT, MHS, CSCS, is a licensed, clinical physical therapist with over 13 years of experience in sports medicine, orthopedics, subacute, neurological and work hardening. Currently, he is one of four lead Physical Therapists at Marion Area Health Center in Marion, Ohio, and also works for SunDance Rehabilitation Corporation in Marion performing PRN evaluations and clinical management in the subacute unit. He has been on the faculty of the PTA programs at Marion Technical College and Sinclair Community College, where he taught Intro to Pharmacology, Anatomy, and Therapeutic Exercise courses. In addition, Dr. Hensel is a former instructor at Andrews University, where he taught multiple courses, including pharmacotherapeutics, medical terminology, and physiology and developed pharmacology course content for the transitional doctorate program.
