Dr. Bernadette Schmeltz, OTD, OTR/L, CLT, BCTS, DRS

Dr. Bernadette Schmeltz, OTD, OTR/L, CLT, BCTS​, DRS​ received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy at the University of Pittsburgh in 2000 and Doctor of Occupational Therapy at Chatham University in 2019.  She is ​currently ​an Assistant Professor and ​former ​Doctoral Capstone Coordinator at Slippery Rock University.  She has over 20 years of clinical experience working in diverse settings such as acute care, home health, outpatient pediatrics and adults, inpatient rehabilitation, skilled nursing, and cyberschool​ through a virtual setting​.  She ​is a Board Certified Telepractice Specialist (BCTS), a ​Certified Lymphedema Therapist​, and also​ holds certifications in Handwriting Without Tears Level 1 handwriting, Therapeutic Listening, Astronaut Training, and administering the Sensory Processing Measure.  She has presented at both the state and national level on her capstone project related to improving evidence-based practice utilizing an online journal club. She recently published an article in OT Practice on the entry-level OTD doctoral capstone.
