Understanding Continuing Education Rules for Lousiana Physical Therapist and Physical Therapist Assistants
Listen up, Louisiana physical therapist and assistants: Your state board has new regulations in place regarding your continuing education requirements. These new rules affect all physical therapists and physical therapist assistants, wherever they are in their license cycle. Luckily for you, HomeCEUs Seminar-On-Demand courses are approved by the board, so we can make it a snap to meet the new requirements.
What are the new rules?
Applicants for renewal whose birth year ends in either an odd or even number and who apply for license renewal in 2013, will be required to document and report only 15 hours of Board-approved continuing education courses, all of which may be obtained online. The course work must include 2 hours of Jurisprudence (available through the board itself), 2 hours of Ethics, and 11 hours of clinical content, of which 4 hours may be Administrative.
Applicants for renewal in 2014 will be required to document and report only 15 hours of Board-approved continuing education courses.
Thereafter, applicants for renewal in 2015 or 2016 will be required to document and report to the Board 30 hours of courses every 2 years.
In order to make sure all Louisiana therapists are up to date and on the same cycle, the Board is requiring that everyone complete 15 hours of CEs before March 31st, 2013.
