Regaining Independence, One Step at a Time
It’s always the little things—cooking a meal with a loved one, holding a child, going for a drive, walking around the house unassisted. For someone living with limitations, performing these everyday tasks is an accomplishment. That’s why this April we’re celebrating occupational therapy and the OT professionals who help change their clients’ lives for the better.
Celebrating Occupational Therapy Month
Established in 1980 and spearheaded by the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), Occupational Therapy Month strives to educate, empower, and equip OTs and OTAs to better serve their clients.
This year, the AOTA announced their commemorative campaign theme: “Inspiring Hope, Changing Lives.” The goal of the campaign is to educate the public about occupational therapy:
- What it is
- Why we might need it
- How to ask for it
- Its impact on one’s overall quality of life
