$59

Description:

Course Overview

While the benefits of physical fitness are widely accepted, there is still a shortage of information and guidance to the special needs and considerations of older clients — specifically those who exercise over 55 years of age. This course identifies the exercise-related motivations, benefits, and challenges unique to clients over the age of 55. Participants learn of some of the most common health issues faced by senior clients, and the important adjustments to exercise needed to accommodate this target population. The course includes changes in human physiology, psychology, and social position related to aging. Also featured is a synopsis of some of the most prevalent medications among older Americans and how these medications affect exercise planning. Specific exercise techniques are recommended which have been shown to be safe and effective for clients over age 55.
