The law is very clear and provides specific examples for education and agency compliance. Upon the completion of this course, the learner will be able to: 

  • Describe the scope and extent of the aging LGBTQI population.
  • To discuss the NJ LGBTQI Law and its importance.
  • To articulate the various provisions of NJ LGBTQI Law and penalties for violation.
  • Identify strategies for adapting long term care facilities to meet the needs of LGBTQI aging adults.
  • Identify challenges to implementing the NJ LGBTQI law within facilities.
  • Identify ways to approach the implementation and compliance with the new LGBTQI law.
  • Identify strategies for creating inclusive environments in long term care facilities to meet the needs of LGBTQI aging adults.
  • Describe the significance of creating an inclusive long term care space for elderly intersectional LGBTQI populations (HIV+, Ethnic racial minority).
  • Discuss ways in which healthcare providers in long-term care facilities, and interprofessional teams can address diversity, equity, racism, stigma and barriers to care for LGBTQI populations.
