  • Describe characteristics of pain referral and implications for locating origination of symptoms.
  • Identify effects of the technique application and causal neuromuscular mechanisms
  • Identify the client’s role in applying techniques and implications for effective relief.

This course, Connective Tissue Disorder Treatment with Muscle Release Techniques introduces the therapy professional to the prevalence and impact of connective tissue disruptive conditions such as adhesions, trigger points, and related imbalances. Several common pathologies and consequences of tissue imbalances are addressed. The course emphasizes the crucial skills of palpation as well as passive and active movement. This course is intended to instruct the professional on the fields of classic massage therapy, Strength and Conditioning, and athletic training, and respected research of athletic pursuits. 

Professional Objectives:

  1. Identify the benefits of muscle release techniques.
  2. Identify adhesions and their effect on motor function.
  3. Recognize the origin and nature of Trigger Points.
  4. Identify the three layers of muscular fascia and implications for movement restriction.

  6. Identify the difference between self-myofascial release from myofascial release administered by a therapist.
  7. Identify active from passive tissue release.
