Illinois Physical Therapy Continuing Education Requirements

Hours Needed:

Illinois PT's need 40 hours, PTA's need 20 hours

Deadline:

Due 9/30 of even years for PT's Due 9/30 of odd years for PTA's

Home Study Limit:

An applicant may obtain 75% of his or her total CE credit by taking correspondence or web-based courses, including pre-recorded professional presentations and pre-recorded webinars, from an approved CE sponsor. Live, Interactive webinars from HomeCEU are not subject to the limitations.

Additional Information:

3 hours of ethics
1 hour of sexual harassment prevention
2 hours of implicit bias
1 hour of dementia training*

* all licensed healthcare professionals in Illinois who have direct patient interaction with adults 26 and older are required to complete one-hour in training on the diagnosis, treatment an dcare of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias.
